“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25

At our August Porch Party, Julie Wilson spoke about “Living a Purposed, Generous Life.” Julie’s message invites a practical question: How can I sow into others with what God has given me?

As we enter harvest season, I’ve been considering the law of reaping and sowing. We often hear “you reap what you sow” as a warning, sometimes accompanied by a “Well, what did you expect?” Yet the principle remains the same for both good and bad seeds. A good seed will produce a good plant. The principle encourages us to sow what is good, trusting God with the fruit and the timing. When we sow kindness, generosity, encouragement, and prayer, the harvest will yield love, hope, and peace.  And remember, a bad day does not mean a bad outcome!

This is the heart behind Porch Prayer, our newest offering. Porch Prayer offers an opportunity for you to bring your seeds, your fears, hopes, and harvests before the Lord. In my own story prayer was the seed that saved my marriage. Prayer is planting His word for us today and for the future generations who will reap the harvest you plant. When we pray for our families, neighbors, and community, we sow in faith. Through prayer, we stand faithfully for peace, healing, and reconciliation.

At Porch Lights, there is room both to receive encouragement and to offer it. As we expand our gatherings, I invite you to reflect on the question “What am I sowing in my own life, in others, and in our community?” And as Porch Lights expands our unique gatherings, I’m asking you to consider where you can sow:

  • Receive prayer. Make time to bring your needs before God with women who will pray with you. Appointments can be made at prayer@porchlights.net.
  • Give your time. Volunteer at a gathering or help us welcome and connect women.
  • Open your porch. Host a Porch Party and create space for women to hear a story of faith, meet one another, and be encouraged.
  • Sponsor an event. Consider a sponsorship personally or through your business. Your financial support helps make these gatherings possible and brings the encouragement of Christ to women across Richmond.

Whether you need prayer, have a home to share, can offer your time, or are ready to sponsor an event, we would love to hear from you. Please email us at info@porchlights.net!

Let’s sow faithfully together and ask God for His harvest.

With gratitude,
Anne
