Dear Friends,

I am writing to let you know that I will retire as President of Porch Lights, Inc. at the end of this year. I am profoundly grateful for the calling and opportunity to lead Changing Seasons and now Porch Lights for almost 10 years.

There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time. I am comforted that God has helped me to know that and I’ve been reminded of this beautiful hymn, Hymn of Promise.

It’s been a whirlwind of a decade and truly a blessing to lead this ministry with some of the most Christ-centered women I have ever known. During this time, we’ve taken Porch Lights from an event-only ministry to a 501(c )(3) organization, with various yearly events. We’ve seen over 3,000 attendees to Speaker Events, Porch Parties and Book Clubs, and have come alongside other ministries for women in Richmond. It has been truly amazing and only possible through our Lord.

Porch Lights is in very good hands. The all-volunteer board of women from across our city are wonderful leaders whose vision has lit the way for what we have been able to offer. That vision remains “to provide opportunities for women to invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers to be renewed by God’s love through unique gatherings that aid in the flourishing of their hearts and everyday life.” Beginning in January 2024, the board will be blessed to have Beth Nichols Marriott as its new President. Beth has been on the Porch Lights board for almost two years and has the heart, gifts, and experience that will make this transition in leadership seamless. You can read more about Beth in her bio found on this page.

I am most grateful for all of you—board members, friends, supporters, attendees, volunteers—but most importantly sisters in Christ, and for your encouragement and love this last decade. I will continue on the board until the end of December and will serve in an advisory and volunteer role after that time.

I am confident that the Lord will continue to bless Porch Lights through you and that gives me great comfort.

With much gratitude and In Christ’s love,

Donna Davis
President, Porch Lights, Inc.
